Common questions
What is the sign made of?
Solid galvanized steel, 0.059 inches thick (about 1/16 of an inch), cut with an industrial laser. Want a different metal or material? Email help@instantmetalsigns.com and we'll arrange a custom order.
Will it last outdoors?
Yes. Galvanized steel has a zinc coating that protects it from rust, so it holds up to sun, rain, and snow. The signs are bare metal, not painted or powder coated, so they keep a natural steel look as they weather.
How long does shipping take?
Your sign is cut to order in the USA. Most orders arrive within 7–10 business days. We email you a tracking number the moment it ships.
When is my card charged?
Not right away. When you order, we place a temporary hold on your card while a real person double-checks your design. You are only charged once your sign is accepted for cutting, usually within one business day. If we can't cut it, the hold is released and you pay nothing.
What if I don't like it?
You approve the exact design before ordering; what you see is what we cut. If your sign arrives damaged or wrong, reply to your confirmation email with a picture of the sign and a note about why you're returning it, and we will make it right.
How do I hang it?
Every sign can include 1/4-inch mounting holes. We suggest spots in solid metal, and you can move, add, or remove them right on your preview before you buy. Use ordinary screws for wood or fences, or picture-hanging strips indoors.
About us
Hi, I'm Gavin Ridley. I built this page after making a fun, custom metal sign for a friend's wedding, and seeing how much a one-of-a-kind sign can mean to people.
My goal here is simple: make thoughtful, personalized signs easily available. You describe the sign you want, see exactly what will be cut, and a real person checks every order before it goes to the laser.
It's not my only goal. By day I'm a nuclear engineer at a startup in Austin, Texas, working to deploy safe, affordable nuclear power.
Questions, ideas, or a sign you're not sure we can make? Email help@instantmetalsigns.com. I read every message.
This is exactly what we will cut. Openings in the design are cut all the way through the steel.
